The Art Students League of New York is proud to present the annual Juried Selection exhibition, an exhibition of juror selected work from our Student Salons, that represents some of the highest caliber work being produced by League artists today. An annual tradition for decades, The League has not been able host this exhibition, formerly known as the Red Dot Exhibition, in recent years. The work on display this year, selected by the renowned instructors of The League, and curated by our Curator-at-Large, Jillian Russo, is a celebration of our students’ return The League, and our community’s commitment to artmaking.

Jillian Russo is a Brooklyn-based curator and art historian. She served as Curator for the Art Students League from 2013-2018 and as Director of Exhibitions at Hollis Taggart from 2019-2021. She has organized numerous exhibitions including Remnant Romance: Environmental Works, Idelle Weber and Aurora Robson, Knox Martin: Radical Structures, The Masters: Art Students League Teachers and their Students, and On the Front Lines: Military Veterans at the Art Students League of New York. She is a contributor to the Brooklyn Rail and has written articles for American Quarterly, CAA Reviews, and Panorama. She received her PhD in American art from the Graduate Center, CUNY.
The Art Students League’s Student Salons showcase work from every discipline taught at The League (including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media). The exhibitions are rotated weekly with several classes included in each installation. The Salons offer the opportunity to become familiar with the work created in League classes as well as encounter work by artists in the early stages of their careers.
