Painting from Life via Zoom: Portraiture (Online)

Janet A. Cook

Opposing Forces 60x60

Class Description

This class offers an opportunity to paint from life while embracing the technology that makes it possible. Zoom, video, photos, email and text enable us to continue to work together but in a virtual space. Ultimately our class pushes the boundaries of what’s possible, while still honoring the tradition of working from life.

Emphasis will be placed on drawing skills and a basic understanding of anatomy, movement, psychological force, light and form, rich paint, color and the use of correct value relationships in creating an expressive work that has strength and presence. The instructor will critique the student’s work in ‘breakout’ online sessions using digital references.
