Portrait and Figure Painting with a Limited Palette (online)

Dominique Medici

Dominique Medici

Class Description

In this class we will use both Indirect and Direct (Alla Prima) painting techniques. Short and long poses help us gain the ability to work with efficiency and precision. Each month we will work from a combination of paintings, photos and/or models. Medici will demo and break down the poses into clear and consecutive steps. Since simplicity is one of the goals, we will be using a limited palette and we will focus on 4 main aspects of a portrait: Proportion, Value, Color, and Edge. Practicing this way month after month leads to greater confidence and takes your skills up a notch or two.
