Class Description

This class focuses on the effects of light on color. Students will learn to see and identify color temperature and relationships when working with artificial light, and natural daylight. Using the “all prima” method of painting, students work on monthly assignments or personal projects designed to encourage personal artistic vision. Weekly live oil painting demos and lectures. Students should have good drawing skills. For oil, acrylic or pastel.

About the Instructor

Karen O’Neil has been instructing painting courses and workshops throughout the Northeast for two decades. A graduate of Massachusetts College of Art, Ms. O’Neil studied in Provincetown with Henry Hensche and also at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. She has been the recipient of regional fellowships, and has been an artist-in-residence at Millay colony.

Ms. O’Neil’s award-winning work is included in numerous private and corporate collections in New York, including Pfizer and Memorial Sloan Kettering. She is represented by Edgewater Galleries, VT, and Ric Michel Fine Art, NYC. Her work has been featured in many print publications, as well as online blogs.
