This show’s mixture of forms, like its musical namesake, celebrates spontaneity and the gathering of distinct styles to create harmony. This year’s global health emergency has greatly impacted artists, but has not drained their inspiration nor halted their practices. As the city slowly starts to reawaken, we invite you into the imaginations of artists who have continued composing through the pandemic.
Fantasia is The League’s first exhibition with fellow arts organization ChaShaMa, and is also our first physical exhibition since the city-wide shutdown in March.
Artists in the exhibiton:
Walter Altamirano, Bruna D’Alessandro, Magdalena Dukiewicz, Debra Friedkin, Yolande Heijnen, John Parnell, Fulvia Zambon
Now on view at:
September 1 – October 30
Wednesday – Friday: 9am – 3pm
Satursday – Sunday: 10am – 4pm
The Art Students League offers its great thanks to instructors
Naomi Campbell, Marshall Jones, and Haksul Lee for serving on the
Instructor Review Committee to create this group show.
Chashama supports artists by partnering with property owners to transform unused real estate into space for artists to create and present their work. Chashama also provides free art classes for under-resourced communities, establishing a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive world.
In a new partnership, The League and Chashama join forces to create a series of League student exhibitions. These presentations celebrate global stories by emerging artists at The League while activating unused city real estate.
