Upcoming Special Workshops

Timothy J. Clark
The Portrait and Figure in Watercolor

WORKSHOP 1: FOCUS ON THE FIGURE
Dates: Friday - Sunday, January 9 - 11, 2009
(Demonstration: Friday, 7:00 - 10:00 pm; Workshop: Saturday and Sunday, 8:45 am - 4:45 pm)

WORKSHOP 2: FOCUS ON THE PORTRAIT
Dates: Friday - Sunday, January 16 - 18, 2009
(Demonstration: Friday, 7:00 - 10:00 pm; Workshop: Saturday and Sunday, 8:45 am - 4:45 pm)

Fee per workshop: $225

Timothy Clark will conduct two workshops, each beginning with a demonstration. Using the spontaneity and fluidity of watercolor, these special classes focus on how classical figure painting concepts and techniques in oil can be translated into watercolor. This specialized approach separates the process into a progressive and controllable series of steps, allowing the artist expressive and structural success.

Everett Raymond Kinstler
Painting from the Model

Date: Saturday and Sunday, February 7 and 8, 2009
Time: 8:45 am - 4:45 pm
Fee: $225

Everett Raymond Kinstler, N.A., A.W.S., renowned portrait, landscape and figure painter, will conduct a workshop in painting from the model for advanced students. Mr. Kinstler will emphasize personal expression and principles of color and value relationships. He will critique each student and will demonstrate painting from the model. A supply list will be available.

A "golden age" comic book artist and magazine illustrator, Mr. Kinstler influenced the pop art school. He has portrayed over sixty U.S. cabinet officers, more than any other artist in the country's history. Five U.S. presidents and two first ladies have posed for him. His portraits of President Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan are the official White House portraits. An exhibition of his work was held at the Museum of the City of New York in 2006, and a profile of his career was recently presented in a PBS documentary.
