Elements of Drawing, Anatomy for Artists

"It is only when what can be taught is working in perfect harmony with what cannot be taught that a work of art results," observed Harold Speed in 1873. ÜMy goal is to help people get the knowledge and the skill to reach their goals as artists for their personal pleasure and career development.
"The focus will be on using the human figure and still life as a basis for learning about anatomy, composition, light, color, Old Master techniques, contemporary trends, and the concepts of integrating drawing and painting in a way that will help the transition from one to the other. There will be long poses for drawing and painting with pencil, pastel, oil, watercolor, acrylic and mixed media."
Sherry Camhy studied gross anatomy at New York University Medical School, dissecting cadavers and passing exams with future doctors.
Ms. Camhy's work is in the permanent collections of the Israel Museum; the New Orleans Museum of Fine Art;The Telfair Museum, Savannah, Georgia; the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, Pennsylvania; the International Financial Group, the New York Public Library, and the private collections of Elihu and Susan Rose and Peter Falk, among others. Her work has been exhibited at the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art, the Hammond Museum, the Montclair Art Museum, the Arnot Museum, the Katonah Museum and the Parrish Museum of Art, Southampton, N.Y.
She has been described as a "noteworthy talent" by a reviewer for TimeOut New York, and the New York Press spoke of her work as Üalways containing something beautiful. "A review in ARTnews praised her work in ÜThe Figure in American Art."
Ms. Camhy's Art of the Pencil was published by Watson-Guptill. Her studio is located in West Chelsea.
