Anthony Antonios
Sculpture and Drawing

The goal of this class is to explore the human form through sculpture, which includes sculpture in the round and in relief. Since the human figure is our subject, it’s important that we understand it anatomically and abstractly. The concepts of form, composition, structure and design will be emphasized.

Anthony Antonios graduated from the High School of Art and Design in New York City. He studied at Pratt Institute, the City College of New York, the Art Students League and the National Academy School of Fine Arts. His teachers included Robert Beverly Hale, Frank Eliscu and Evangelos Frudakis.

Mr. Antonios has done commissions for the Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health in Spartanburg, S.C.; the National Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Merchant Marine Captains Headquarters, both in Washington, D.C.; Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.; Brookgreen Gardens in Pawleys Island, S.C. and numerous other private and public commissions.

He has exhibited in Grand Central Galleries, Five Points Gallery, Brookgreen Gardens, the Morrison Gallery and the Fleischer Museum, among others. He has won many awards and is a Fellow of the National Sculpture Society.

Mr. Antonios taught at the University of Hartford and the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts and also teaches sculpture at the National Academy of Design.
