Instructors of the Art Students League

Our renowned and dedicated  instructors are the backbone of the Art Students League of New York, and have been throughout our history. Legendary League instructors have made an indelible impression on American art, often by inspiring their students to pursue groundbreaking careers—mentorship and superior technical instruction from instructors like Charles Alston, Thomas Hart Benton, and Peggy Bacon led directly to the success and innovations of students like Romare Bearden,  Marisol, and Yayoi Kusama, to name just a few.

Our current group of instructors includes artists whose works live in the permanent collections of some of the most famous museums in the world. The techniques they teach were passed down to them by the previous generations of great artists. In studying and creating under their tutelage and mentorship, you too can become part of art history.
